An enchanting gourmet Christmas at the Shangri-La Hotel, Paris

It has been a while since I last shared my experiences at the Shangri-La Hotel, Paris. One of the city’s newest Palaces, that used to be the home of Napoleon Bonaparte’s grandnephew, Prince Roland Bonaparte, sees things big this Christmas: on December 6, a Christmas boutique will open its doors, offering guests and visitors the possibility to creations of the hotel’s pastry chef François Perret.

A few weeks ago, I was honoured to literally get a
taste of what will what surely will be one of the most exciting hotel
experiences in Paris this holiday season – with none other than the Pastry Chef himself.
More
than ever inspired by the spirit of Christmas, his creation transforms the
traditional Yule log into an enchanting spectacle, as Santa’s crew gracefully
sets forth on the table, eager to be shared among the guests. A chocolate milk serrated
base, Santa, wearing his red cap in sugar, leads his crew with golden reins.
Carved in dark chocolate, reindeer cavort around a quintet of trees decorated
with silver leaf. For this magical forest, a thin layer of colored cocoa butter
gently brushed green blends dark chocolate to draw the foliage of conifers.

While the Christmas log was introduced in the enchanting setting of the Shangri-La’s La Bauhinia restaurant, it also was the occasion to taste
a selection of François Perret’s pastries… A highly recommended experience, currently on the menu of the Tea Time at the Palace.
I can’t wait to go back!
