If Cartier is known by
everyone for their jewelry, the Maison is also renowned for its perfumes –
widely distributed on a worldwide scale at retailers like Sephora.
If La Panthère, Pasha
and Déclaration will surely ring a bell to the majority of us, there is a most
exclusive line called Les Heures de Parfums, that you will only find at Cartier
stores. A collection of truly exceptional and very private High Perfumery fragrances,
for which Cartier’s house perfumer Mathilde Laurent selects only the most
extremely sophisticated materials.
I had the privilege to
meet Mathilde Laurent a few weeks ago to discuss with her about the latest
addition to the perfume collection: XI – L’Heure Perdue.
For L’Heure Perdue
(the lost hour), Mathilde Laurent was inspired by meditation, that she
practices on a regular basis: meditation, as I experienced with her, is a
wonderful way to connect with yourself in order to feel many things in a deeper
way than the utility they originally are… Fragrances, for instance, become more
than a hygienic thing: they become an art, bringing back memories of taste,
travel, sceneries, etc.
You
need to smell L’Heure Perdue, meditate and make up your own
opinion about the fragrance.
Mathilde Laurent makes her own revolution: like me, you may be surprised to
learn that L’Heure Perdue is only and exclusively made of synthetic molecules.
Yes: beauty, sensuality and senses – and fragrances don’t have to be natural
only. And, yes, they can be 100% synthetic… Especially when, like L’Heure
Perdue, they are made of the best of the best of synthetic molecules… Such as
vanillin, the voluptuous aldehyde that reigns on this creation.
