Nicole Kidman as Olivier Dahan’s “Grace of Monaco” |
On May 14th, “Grace of Monaco” is set to be the opening film at the 67th edition of the Festival de Cannes.
The legendary Cartier boutique at 13 rue de la Paix in Paris provided the backdrop for the final scene of “Grace of Monaco” for a key scene in the film, in which a pink-hatted Princess Grace – played by Nicole Kidman – sparkles in Cartier jewellery as she announces to the press that she is giving up her Hollywood career to dedicate herself to family and royal obligations.

The filming of this movie naturally called for Cartier’s expertise: faithful reproductions of five of these royal jewellery pieces were produced in the ateliers of the Maison, with the consent of the Sovereign House of Monaco. The original creations are part of the royal jewels of Monaco.

In addition to these historical reproductions, Cartier lent the production team a number of contemporary high jewellery pieces worn by Nicole Kidman throughout the movie, as well as a spectacular emerald necklace seen on Spanish actress Paz Vega, who plays Maria Callas in the film. Cartier watches and accessories are worn by the male leads, Prince Rainier III embodied by Tim Roth, and Aristotle Onassis played by Robert Lindsay.
A must see for Cartier admirers !
