Champagne: a few ideas for the holiday season

Brut Selection Gold by Champagne Gremillet

To celebrate Christmas and the New Year in style, champagne house Gremillet  launches a limited edition of its non vintage brut. A sober and chic gold bottle, limited to 1000 units only.

If the package is very nice, what’s inside is quite nice as well, with a combination of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. Subtle and refined, it surely calls for a unique tasting experience.

Cuvée Collection
Charles de Gaulle by Drappier

A champagne fit for a
French President deserves to be in my selection!

In the sixties, when he
was not at the Elysee Palace or on official visits, the General de Gaulle used
to stay in his Colombey- Les-Deux-Eglises property, La Boisserie.

That’s where he
discovered the Drappier champagne estate, through his aide Colonel de Bonneval,
a loyal customer of the House. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Appeal of 18th
June in 1990, Michel and André Drappier created the Cuvée Charles de Gaulle.

A blend of 80% Pinot Noir
and 20% Chardonnay, this Champagne expresses itself with notes of red berries,
characteristic of pinot in a smooth, lingering finish.

Essentiel Cuvée Brut by Piper-Heidsieck

With
a majority of Pinot Noir, its Pinots Meuniers from the Reims mountains and its
hundreds of wines, the Essentiel Cuvée Brut is the ultimate expression of
Piper-Heidsieck’s Cuvée Brut. I love its pale and bright gold dress :  a harmonious champagne to be enjoyed at any
time of the day.

What
I also like about it is that Piper-Heidsieck’s « Essentiel » collection is a vintage published only in small
quantities, and numbered.. So chic !
