Because life goes on and life is about sharing, I am happy to be back online and share with you one of the most beautiful things I have seen in the past days, and that can be admired at London’s Claridge’s hotel: the hotel’s 2015 Christmas Tree, designed by Burberry‘s Chief Creative Director and CEO Christopher Bailey.
Bringing the ultimate technologies to the hotel’s pure British old school, art deco lobby, Christopher Bailey’s installation is more of a digital innovation than of a classical Christmas Tree. Knowing Burberry’s always ahead of the game position in the technology field, it’s not a surprise… But the less I can say is that it is something I would love to see: described as a “motion responsive Christmas Tree”, it features almost 100 umbrellas, each finished in bespoke gold and silver metallic fabric.
The tree’s 77,000 individual lights are triggered as guests walk by the tree, sending thousands of twinkling beams into the hotel’s lobby each time someone interacts with it !
Claridge’s and Burberry’s longstanding relationship has been enjoyed by guests of the hotel for years, most famously with the offering of Heritage Trench Coats in all of the hotel’s suites. This festive season, “Burberry Bellboys” will also be on hand to help guests with their Christmas wish lists…
One more reason, if needed, to visit London and the Claridge’s Christmas Tree has long symbolised the start of the festive season in the capital.
