Creole-style vacation at Tamassa Resort, Mauritius

As we, in Paris, have been deep in winter for months – and will still be in the coming weeks; I have had plenty of time to think about my glorious summer in the Indian Ocean… Where some of us, living in Europe, are lucky to holiday at this time of the year.
As I wrote here already, Mauritius is located in the southern hemisphere, off the southeast coast of the African continent… Which means summer and winter months there are opposite to seasons in Europe and North America.
On my trip there last July, I stayed at the island’s Tamassa hotel, located at Bel Ombre on the south-west coast – after spending my first days at the magnificent LUX Grand Gaube.  Also belonging to the LUX* hotel group, Tamassa is a glorious beach hotel set in sprawling tropical gardens planted with palm trees, which lead to a white sandy beach by the Indian Ocean – that all of the 214 rooms, renovated in early 2014 and located in creole-style buildings, offer a view onto.
But if the beach definitely was a highlight of my stay at LUX* Grand Gaube, what makes it worth staying at Tamassa has to be its pool offering: not one, not two, but three three larger than life, tiered, stretched pools. The main one, visible from the overlooking lobby when you arrive, sets the tone with its impressive size, as if it literally stretches to the sea… Quite unique !
Needless to say, I did not leave the resort at all during my stay at Tamassa, as there was so much to see and do already, from early morning walks on the beach to Yoga classes, and relaxing time at the really gorgeous spa, offering an outdoor area with daybeds, jacuzzi, sauna and… A fourth pool!
Wellbeing is actually one of the key features of LUX* resorts with the LUX* Me program, an integrated approach to wellbeing that won the title of Best Luxury Spa Group for the Indian Ocean region at the 2014 World Luxury Spa Awards.
Whether for fun or relaxation, yes, Tamassa definitely was one of my 2014 travel highlights… And I would absolutely not mind going back in 2015.
Well, who would ?
