Culture: the château de Versailles and château de Vaux-le-Vicomte launch a virtual exhibition with the Google Cultural Institute

For the first time since the launch of Google’s Cultural Institute, two major cultural institutions partner for a virtual exhibition. This world premiere opens the door to foresee exceptional exhibitions that could bring together works of art that are impossible to move, or not usually landed by their owners.

Available for free here since April 21, this virtual exhibition shows the possibilities offered by the Google Cultural Institute, founded in 2011. The not-for-profit initiative partners with cultural organizations to bring the world’s cultural heritage online. The aim is to build free tools and technologies for the cultural sector to showcase and share its riches, making them more widely accessible to a global audience.

Beyond the technological performance, this exhibition brings a new vision on two great figures of château de Versailles and château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, Louis XIV and Nicolas Fouquet. Both shared a common taste for arts and artisans of their time. The virtual exhibition, bringing together video, sound and Google Street View modules, allow an immersive visit of some parts of both castles. Quite impressive !
