De Beers
was among the jewellers to introduce their latest creations during Paris’
couture week last month. I have been following the Maison for a while now – I
had the privilege to meet Andrew Coxon, President of the De Beers Institute of Diamonds, last year ; and was really anticipating
this private presentation.

Named Aria, (meaning atmosphere and air in Latin and Italian), the collection is inspired by light and aims at representing « a dance of light »… Which it does to perfection, as I tried to capture in this selection.
In each and every piece I saw, it was indeed as if the radiant, extremely shining centre diamond artfully traced the movement of an elegant dance, giving an impression of perpetual motion and spiralling sensation through a swirling display.

As the dance intensifies, so the pieces of the De Beers Aria Collection
appear to build
in momentum exuding from the focal diamond energetic swathes.
The graduated diamond lines reflect this climatic drama while the repetition of
the refined design and multidimensional relief of these pieces emphasise the
continued motion of escalating beauty.

The delicate pavé motifs play with the open spaces and contrasts of
light and shadow. The polished gold and sparkling diamond pavé that form the
expressive swathes have been artfully set at exacting
angles to ensure
stunning reflection and a powerful light show.
