Exploring Boa Vista, Cape Verde – Part 1, the hotel

Two weeks ago, I decided to make the most of one of the long May bank holiday week-ends
we have in France, and take a sunny break. I wanted it to be exotic enough,
yet not too far away from Europe and France since I did not have so much
travel time.

I opted for Cape Verde with
Heliades, the French tour operator specializing in the destination since 2009, serving more than 20,000 clients every year.

Totally
unknown to me until then, Cape Verde is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean, 570 kilometres off the coast of Western Africa.

Among
the variety of islands, I decided to go for Boa Vista as after a bit of
research, it seemed to me that it would be the one with the most beautiful
beaches… And I was right ! Not only had the island breathtaking white sand
and crystal clear water beaches to offer, but there is also a variety of
amazing landscapes to admire.

My
starting point to go on daily explorations of the island was the Riu Karamboa
five star resort, ideally located three minutes away from the airport… Actually
a place I wouldn’t have left at all given the many activities it offers – from
days at the insanely huge pool sipping tropical cocktails to kite surking on
the hotel’s private beach, and of course the spa.

But
the great program I had planned with Heliades there was motivating enough to
make even me want to leave the pool… Keep an eye on The Parisian Eye to

Il y a deux semaines, j’ai décidé de
profiter de l’un des longs week-ends de mai pour partir au soleil.
Je voulais que cela soit suffisamment dépaysant, tout en étant
facilement accessible depuis la France afin d’avoir un maximum de temps sur
place.

Mon choix s’est porté sur le Cap
Vert avec Héliades, le tour opérateur français spécialiste de la destination
depuis 2009 avec près de 20 000 clients par an.

Le Cap Vert est un ensemble d’iles volcaniques situées dans
l’océan atlantique, à 570 kilomètres au large de l’Afrique de l’Ouest.

Parmi les différentes iles, j’ai opté pour Boa vista: mes recherches m’avaient conduit à penser qu’il
s’agirait de l’une de celles bénéficiant des plus belles plages… Et je ne me suis pas
trompé ! Non seulement, l’ile offre d’incroyables plages de sable blanc et
d’eau transparente, mais également de magnifiques paysages à admirer.

Mon point de départ pour partir à la
découverte de l’ile a été l’hôtel Riu Karamboa, un cinq étoiles
parfaitement situé à quelques minutes de l’aéroport au coeur des dunes de
sable blanc, face à une mer d’un bleu profond et offrant de nombreux
loisirs – dont, point fort pour moi, une immense piscine… Mais également
des activités telles que le kite surf pour les plus sportifs.

En réalité, je n’aurais sans doute
pas quitté l’hôtel si le programme concocté par Héliades sur place
n’avait pas été si motivant pour me donner l’envie de quitter la piscine et son
bar…
