Exploring Madrid, Spain from IHG’s Hotel Indigo Madrid – part 2

Last August, I started to share pictures of my lovely
week-end in Madrid mid-July.

With my 1,000,000 IHG Rewards Club points, it did
not take me long to chose an escape to Spain to start my summer… In just a few
minutes, both my flights and hotel were booked through the comprehensive IHGwebsite (that even offers car rentals for your vacation).

Once at Hotel Indigo Madrid, the rooftop pool immediately became my favorite part of the hotel…

But I have to say, if I had been lazy, I wouldn’t have left my air conditioned Deluxe room for the week-end… Spacious with a panoramic view over the neighborhood, it felt brand new and stylish like the rest of the hotel with nice and modern pieces of art inspired by the city and neighborhood, yet cosy like a cocoon with the super soft bed and rain shower.

Of course, traveling to this unknow
destination also was the occasion for me to explore the local life.

Here again, I couldn’t have thought
of a better location : at night, I just had to step out of the quiet Calle
de Silva to be immediately immersed in the vibrant urban life of Gran Vía,
while the iconic Chueca area was just a nice walk away to get a taste of a more
authentic Spanish lifestyle (countless bars and restaurants serving delicious
food and beverages – and as you can guess tapas and sangria were on top of my
list).

During the day, Hotel Indigo Madrid also proved to be a
perfectly located starting point to explore the city landmarks : the Parque
del Retiro of course, but also the royal palace, the Puerta del Sol, and the
unmistakable Mercado San Miguel food market, where you will find the best sangria in town to
rehydrate while exploring Madrid on a warm day !
