Exploring Nice from the city’s newest hotel: La Malmaison Nice ****

From the old town of Nice to the unmissable Promenade des Anglais and the inland region of Provence, Nice is known as the French Riviera’s capital city, with a hotel offering to match.

Among the many offers, from the legendary palaces to the trendiest hotels, I recently got to stay at La Malmaison Nice ****, a recently re-opened local institution.

What’s great about the property, first, definitely is it’s location – and we all know location matters when it comes to choosing a hotel. Right in the heart of Nice, La Malmaison Nice **** is in walking distance to the old town, the beaches and the Promenade des Anglais: a great base for any visitor to the French Riviera.

Built in the late 19th century, the hotel soon became a reference in Nice, in the heart of what would later become “the Golden Square”. Now part of the Ascend Hotel Collection hotel network as the first member in France, La Malmaison Nice **** has been refurbished and decorated to echo its grand past. Local interior designer Emmanuelle Boero was inspired by the Art Deco style of the old hotel, which she subtly revisited  in order to preserve the spirit and style of the time, in “Great Gatsby” fashion.

Launched in 2008 on the American continent, the Ascend Hotel Collection label now has 148 4 and 5 star hotels in the best destinations for both business and leisure stays, and La Malmaison Nice **** definitely fits in both categories with its 46 rooms, some of them offering a beautiful terrace with lovely views of the city.
