David Hamilton at the opening of his Paris exhibition*
Since the end of the sixties, David Hamilton has
been an iconic art photographer, known for his images of young women depicted with
pastel colours, surrounded by a soft light in a blurred atmosphere. This
signature technique, inspired by painting, made him an international reference in
the 1970’s.

At a time ruled by nonconformism and liberalization,
David Hamilton’s photographs of lightly dressed young women brought him instant
and lasting fame after a career in the media – working for Elle among other
publications, and a position as artistic director of Le Printemps Paris
department store.
Today, he has sold millions of books, posters,
postcards and calendars based on his work.
