Anyone who knows Parisians well, knows their favorite destination for a chic, seaside week-end break is Deauville. And in Deauville, if there is only one address to know, it has to be the Barrière Resort – more precisely, Hotel Le Normandy.
The Barrière Group has recently acquired another local institution, the famous restaurant « Les 3 Mages », located right by
the hotel on « Les Planches » broadwalk. To give the place a festive and unique soul, the Group has teamed with Luke Reversade, the founder of “La Folie Douce” : a creative concept, mixing great food with unique shows, that has been entertaining the crowds in France since 1980.
With the recent restoration of Hotel Le Normandy, visitors can now enjoy an unparalleled experience while staying at the hotel. With countryside walks, gorgeous coastlines and a multitude of on-site leisure activities, I decided to experience it all this past summer.
Restyling a historic Anglo-Norman style hotel with 271 rooms and suites must not be an easy task, but it is one Nathalie Ryan did to perfection, playing with soft Toile de Jouy and pale wood half-timbering in the rooms. Complete with elegant, comfortable furniture and a lovely balcony opening onto gorgeous views of the hotel’s many dazzling façades, my room at
Hotel Le Normandy was the most perfect.
When staying at such an iconic hotel, one has to make sure they make the most of all it has to offer – and it did have a lot to offer indeed : a heated private pool surrounded by delicate green half-timbering below a translucent roof, a gym equipped with all the latest machines and set in an old school pannelled room, as well as a new spa, that was added during the recent renovations. All added a feeling of truly belonging somewhere to my experience.
If you tell « Barrière » to a French person, the first thing that will come to their mind is « casino », as the Barrière name reigns over casinos throughout France. In Deauville, the legendary Barrière Casino reveals is know for its grandeur and splendour, with a classical façade looking out to sea. After dinner, it is easy to go for the games as the hotel is linked to the casino by an underground corridor.
No matter why you decide to stay at Hotel Le Normandy in Deauville, the hotel – and city – definitely have something to offer to everyone.
