There’s news on the Paris luxury hotel bar scene: the Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, just unveiled the new identity of its bar, renamed « Le Bar Botaniste ».
Proud of the legacy left by Prince Roland Bonaparte, the Head Barman Arnaud Thirel and his team wanted to honor this outstanding scientist and collector with a dedicated cocktail ans spirits menu… Like a nod to the past of the former mansion of the Prince, who managed to create there the largest private herbarium in the world, composed of more than 2.5 million specimens.
Inspired by their discoveries, the bar team has put together a collection of bold cocktail with a bias, that of bringing back the most aromatic and sometimes forgotten alcohols – such as absinthe and chartreuse.
The best spirits in each category have been sourced by the hotel teams, allowing them to revisit the classics going off the beaten track, by offering a variety of 23 handpicked gins – and 9 premium tonics, to offer well over 200 combinations of Gin & Tonic.
These cocktails illustrate the expertise, creativity and meticulous research work of more than six months accomplished by Le Bar Botaniste teams. Composition, ingredients, names, presentation, everything has been thought in detail to offer guests at the bar an unforgettable experience.
