My cocktail class at the Hilton Paris Opera

Although it has been officially open since January, I hadn’t
had a chance to visit the Hilton Paris Opera yet. A few weeks ago, I thought going
for a cocktail class at the hotel would be the best way to have a first look at
the property.
Located in the heart of the Right Bank’s Opera district, the Hilton
Paris Opera is the result of the $50m renovation of one of Paris’s most
historic grand hotels, originally opened in 1889 to welcome visitors of the
Exposition Universelle.
As I stepped in the hotel for my cocktail class at Le Petit
Bar, I couldn’t help but notice, past the lobby, the majestic Le Grand Salon:
the historical centerpiece of the building, returned to its former glory in
exquisite style thanks to the refurbishment works: soaring 46-foot high ceilings
and hand-painted Belle Epoque frescos… Amazing !
Before making my own cocktails in Le Petit Bar – offering a
smaller, more intimate venue – I got to taste the hotel’s head barman take on tiki
cocktails, the trendy Paris drink of the moment. It was also interesting to
learn from Pierre that the Pina Colada was originally invented in a Hilton
Hotel ?
Another interesting travel fact that I learned through Simon Vincent,
EVP and president, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Hilton Worldwide, is
that “France has the largest inbound
tourism market in Europe, estimated to reach 100m by 2018
”.
I am looking forward to exploring more of the Hilton Paris
Opera !
