The setting forAs the Cannes
Film festival just came to an end, I thought it was great timing to come back
on a trip I took last year, to Cannes precisely, as part of my travel
experience with the Intercontinental Hotel Group.
this trip : right in the heart of the celebrated croisette, facing the
Mediterranean, I stayed at the legendary InterContinental Carlton Cannes hotel.

the last of a series during summer, when I had the opportunity to spend
1,000,000 points on the IHG Rewards Club, the group’s loyalty program. After
Madrid and New York, Cannes was the final destination I booked through IHG’s
website.
Flying from
Paris to Nice, it takes less than an hour to reach Cannes via taxi or shuttle
from Nice airport.
If Cannes is
known all over the world for hosting one of the most glamorous film festivals, the
city also has a reputation for having some truly exceptional hotels – the
planet’s movie elite need a decent place to stay when travelling, after all…
One of those
hotels is the InterContinental Carlton Cannes, which hosted this year’s Heart
Fund gala dinner during the film festival, attended by Leonardo DiCaprio among
others.

With over 100 years
of history on the French Riviera, the InterContinental Carlton offers quite a
unique experience under the Mediterranean sun : 343 rooms and suites,
restaurants, bars, boutiques, a gorgeous terrace – and, my favourite part, a
private beach of fine sand with its own iconic jetty.

Most of my time
was spent on the uber chic private beach, where the great and friendly staff
make sure you are comfortable and have everything you require at all times, in
order to appreciate the refined atmosphere – comparable to the inside of the
hotel, where yesterday’s charm and spirit mix with today’s expectations.

What I liked
about my Deluxe room at the InterContinental Carlton Cannes definitely was its
size, and the elegant decor : a very French setting in a spacious room,
something you don’t often get in cities like… Paris
I really
enjoyed navigating between the marble bathroom and the sitting area by the
window !

Unfortunately,
I was not staying in one of the Prestigious Suites that are famous for being
named after the stars that have stayed in those rooms : Sean Penn, Uma Thurman,
and Sophia Loren just to name a few… But many on my next trip ?
