Quite different from my past experiences at Sotheby’s Paris, the prestigious auction house introduced tonight its first ever sale dedicated to the art of setting a table, that will be held at the Paris Galerie Charpentier on December
17.
To stage this very French sale – featuring, for the first time at Sotheby’s Paris, Wine – seven personalities from the
worlds of gastronomy, luxury and art have agreed to set a table using rare items placed at
their disposal by Sotheby’s, so as to create original and striking decors.
Century Pictures (still lifes, inn scenes, etc.), 20th Century Decorative Art, Design,
Contemporary Art and Photography.
Among the celebrities staging the tables for this exceptional sale are Actress & Model Audrey Marnay, Food Critic François Simon, Maison Poilâne’s Apollonia Poilâne, and chef Alain Passard. One of the most impressive table probably is the one set by Romanée Conti wine estate, shimmering with a symphony of
timeless Baccarat creations, celebrating the utmost in the art of
entertaining – admired and imitated throughout the world for 250 years.
I cannot wait to discover these creations, open to the public for viewing between December 13 –16 December (closed 14 December).
