As the holiday season approaches, Paris is set to dazzle once again with the enchanting Illuminations of the Champs-Élysées. This year, the event promises to be even more spectacular, as it carries the spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympics into the festive ambiance. From November 24, the world-renowned avenue will transform into a luminous wonderland, blending tradition, innovation, and celebration.
A Special Dedication by Tony Estanguet
This year’s honorary guest, Tony Estanguet—triple Olympic champion and president of the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee—will lead the inauguration of the lights. His presence serves as a continuation of the Olympic magic that captivated Paris and the world this summer. As Marc-Antoine Jamet, president of the Comité Champs-Élysées, highlights, Estanguet embodies “excellence and the art of living à la française,” making him the perfect symbol to illuminate the “most beautiful avenue in the world.”
A Sustainable Spectacle
The 2024 edition emphasizes sustainability. Designed by Blachère Illumination, the display features energy-efficient LED technology that has reduced power consumption by 98% since 2006. These luminous displays adorn 400 trees along the four kilometers of the Champs-Élysées, offering a mesmerizing visual rhythm that changes every 15 minutes. The highlight? A majestic, 13.5-meter Christmas tree made entirely of recyclable materials, its lights synchronized with the avenue’s enchanting glow.
A Festive Celebration for All
This year’s inauguration promises to be a grand communal celebration. The avenue will be fully pedestrianized for the occasion, welcoming families, friends, and visitors to revel in the festive atmosphere. The event features live performances, including a concert by SANTA, the celebrated artist who energized the Paralympic Games closing ceremony. A fanfare led by the Band’à Léo will add a touch of French tradition, while DJs keep the rhythm alive well into the evening.
For those unable to attend in person, media partners such as France 3 Paris Île-de-France, RTL, and 20 Minutes will broadcast the magic to audiences worldwide.
A Heartwarming Collaboration
This year’s Illuminations also shine a spotlight on meaningful partnerships. The Comité Champs-Élysées continues its collaboration with the Association Petits Princes, granting the wishes of two children facing serious illnesses who will join Tony Estanguet in lighting up Paris. EDF, a key sponsor, underscores the event’s commitment to sustainability, celebrating its role as the official electricity provider for Paris 2024 and its ongoing investment in renewable energy solutions.
A Timeless Tradition Meets Modern Elegance
Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, aptly describes the Illuminations as a “magical moment” that heralds the festive season for Parisians and visitors alike. Following the transformation of the Champs-Élysées for the Olympics, including extensive urban and ecological renovations, this year’s Illuminations reflect a city that has redefined itself—resplendent and forward-thinking.
The Illuminations will shine from November 24 to January 5, 2025, offering Parisians and visitors a chance to rediscover the Champs-Élysées in all its splendor. With a blend of innovation, tradition, and collective joy, this year’s event promises to capture the essence of Paris as the City of Light, once again lighting up the hearts of millions.
