Tod’s just announced its collaboration, initiated last July as part of Tod’s Academy, with the prestigious Central Saint Martins – University of the Arts for a special project in which young creativity dialogues with Tod’s values and expresses itself totally freely. A way to support the young generations of creatives, who must be supported and promoted, more than ever.
Tod’s Academy is a laboratory of ideas, headquartered in the Brand’s HQ in the Marche region of Italy. It is conceived as a place for doing and thinking, in which artisans accompany and support students, imparting knowledge and techniques to develop their ideas. Tod’s Academy is the expression of Made in Italy seen through the excellence of its artisans, who for generations, have successfully managed to blend their know how with the modern and personal point of view of each creative.
Conceived by Diego Della Valle and coordinated by Fabio Piras, course director of Central St. Martins MA Fashion Course, the project will be presented in February, during London Fashion Week, through a digital exhibition.
33 young designers, selected by Central St. Martins, were asked to give their own interpretation of one or more of Tod’s codes, focusing on the creative process that led to the final proposal. During the process, each student was assigned a fashion master as a mentor. The roster of mentors includes some of the most prestigious international editors, journalists and designers: knowledgeable personalities whose point of view and references have been of inestimable help and enrichment for the students.
